The Master Class Program is an innovative program conceived and initiated by Alan Kogosowski in order to bring music at the highest level directly to schools in Australia. As a corollary to the many fine music programmes in schools in Melbourne and other cities, where talented and conscientious student performers are emerging under the guidance of excellent instrumental teachers, the Master Class Program will bring the best artists on the international scene today to individual schools to give gala concerts at the Performing Arts Centre or auditorium of that school, and also provide a masterclass, or workshop, encounter for the music students with the artist. The concerts, as well as masterclasses - but the concerts especially - are open to the general public as well as the school community.
In the best traditions of mentoring programs established in the United States and elsewhere, the student's exposure to top-level performance, in addition to the opportunity of personal connection with such artists, will be an enriching complement to their growing artistic personalities as well as their developing skills.
The first of the on-going Master Class Program concerts and masterclasses have featured Alan Kogosowski in all-Chopin recitals and student encounters, in recognition of the 200th anniversary of the birth of the great composer.
